The summer outfit formula; looking hot when it’s too hot to care.
There is nothing more painful than trying to put together a summer outfit when it's so hot you couldn’t be bothered to leave your fan. You want something that looks like you didn't even try (you did), something that is lazy - that says;I woke up like this.
The Cool girl summer outfits of 2025 not only look effortlessly Carrie Bradshaw — but are light and breezy, leaving you feeling ready for a walk along the mediterranean coast. This summer is all about bright colours, mixed with neutral tones, citrus prints and chunky colored stones
On those days when you can't be bothered here is your formula — balanced, sexy without being loud, and easy to throw on when it’s 30 degrees and your brain is melting..
Tiny tops.
Loose bottoms.
Sunglasses.
Add in a slicked hairdo, or untamed curls and some chunky jewelry for bonus points.
TINY TOPS
Everyone has a halter top in their closet, likely more than one. It’s an easy to style comfortable basic that most girls feel comfortable in (and no-bra friendly!). I recommend you go with something like this Organic Babylock Tank by Dear Dylan from Sunday State…
If a halter top isn't for you, think late 1990s and 2000s; Cowl tops (maybe with sequins), bandeau and baby doll tops (The OU babydoll top has become a staple in my closet).

2. LOOSE BOTTOMS
For pants, throw on anything that sits below your waistline, oversized linen pants is what immediately comes to mind for me — like these khaki Demi Cotton-Linen Pants from free people…
Another great option is something like a thrifted pair of Levi 501s or a pair of your dads old jorts. Pants like these are lunch friendly, and let your belly breath. And no this is not exclusive to our flat stomach girls, 90% of women have a stomach and it's adorable.
3. SUNGLASSES
And finally summer is the time to bring out your sunnies, because ladies, cataracts are not cute. I recommend you pick a pair of shades that structure your face and accentuate your eyes. For heart shaped faces think Aviator glasses, like the metal double bridge sunglasses from uniqlo.
Round faced girlies, in my opinion, should go oversized like the “Jackie Ohh” sunglasses from rayban. Oval faces, should pick a pair that have sharp cat or something horizontally oblong like the pair SJP is rocking in the picture above. this style is so easy to purchase second hand — like these Authentic 1990s Mod Tortoise Oval Narrow Frame Sunglasses I found for 44$ on etsy (picture bellow). There are lots of great sunglasses out There, but we suggest you stick with ones that provide decent uv protection. 100% UV protection or “UV400” is best.
Ultimately, fashion should be personal — it's all up to you. That is why this formula works, it's not a specific piece you have to buy to feel trendy but an idea that you can build off of. I've made up some outfit combos that work for me below that will hopefully give you some inspo when making your own!
